Progress In Cup
Two Goal Margin
AFC Sudbury Ladies welcomed Ipswich Town Development in the quarter final of the Suffolk Women's County Cup.
In a tight first half there was not much between the teams but Ipswich went closest when they hit the Sudbury bar after half an hour.
AFC took the lead on the hour mark when a defensive error in the penalty area allowed Mia Etheridge to fire home.
Goalkeeper Penny Everett then kept Sudbury in the game with a smart save from a one on one with the Ipswich centre a forward.
The home side sealed the game five minutes from time when a through ball from Stacey Teager put Semma Halil (pictured) through and she carried the ball from twenty-five yards dribbled past the oncoming keeper to score a fine goal.
Halil nearly added a third near the end, but a fine last ditch tackle was made by an Ipswich defender.
So Sudbury are through to the Semi Final of the County Cup where the could meet Ipswich Town, Ipswich Wanderers or Leiston St. Margatets
Next up for the Ladies is away to Dunstable in the Quarter Final of the League Cup.
