This local derby was settled by two first half goals by the visitors who have now recorded back to back league victories to push themselves up to ninth in the league.
In a game where both teams had opportunities to take the early lead. The youngsters from AFC Sudbury made their chances count. The first goal coming from a well taken corner by Oliver Peters converted calmly by Harry Seal after the ball bounced about the Cornard penalty area. Chances then did fall to the home team and Louis Johnson had to organise his back four to continuously keep out the threat.
Clever wide play from Alfie Carroll and Brad Beevis saw Sudbury awarded a penalty after Ollie Dunlop was upended in the box. At a crucial part of the game James Axcell added to his impressive goal record this season with a well taken penalty kick.
The second half was very stop start for both teams and never really matched the frantic first. The visitors were content to see out their two nil lead and keep a clean sheet for the second consecutive game. Sudbury did hit the bar late on through an Oliver Peters header, but chances were few and far between. Even an indirect free kick eight yards out could not give the healthy size crowd a third goal.
