Final Day Draw
Both Sides Go Down
The end of the line and the end of a season in the Ryman League Premier Division for AFC as they completed their programme with a 2-2 draw away to Canvey Island a result combined with other sent the Essex side down with AFC.
There was a very youthful look to the AFC starting line up with Ollie Dunlop, Tevan Allen Tyler French and Dylan Williams included, they were later joined by Joe Wright and Wayne Blackman. Adam Tann, Rob Eagle, Danny Crow and Sam Clarke were injured although the latter was named on the bench.
Liam Wales opened the scoring for AFC with his twelfth of the season just before the half time interval. Dylan Williams notched the second twelve minutes after the re-start this with AFC in control of the game.
The home side scored two goals in the final ten minutes but neither side could break the deadlock and will meet each other in the Ryman North Division (It will not be Ryman but the League's new sponsors have not yet been named)
It is the first time AFC have every been relegated and the first time in twenty years Canvey Island have.
AFC supporters travelled to the fixture using the club's minibus and decided as is tradition for the final game to go in fancy dress.
