The Action

Another great team performance from AFC Sudbury Reserves as they pressed for qualification to the knock out rounds of The Chell Trophy, and another five goal haul to entertain and enthrall the impressed crowd. AFC Sudbury Reserves do give their supporters their money’s worth on many occasions.

Unfortunately there will not be a full report of this beautiful game as ‘The Hatter’ was busy most of the time doing other jobs and enjoying ‘His Tea Time Treats’. But here we go on the goals:-

Sudbury took the lead in the second minute with a powerful low shot by new signing from The Academy, Shane Benham, from 20 yards following a free kick pushed away by keeper Chris Stacey.

On fourteen minutes Bradley Hughes powered up front beating off challenges to power home to open his account. Sudbury added a third three minutes later from Lee Ifield who ran through splitting the Stowmarket defence to score.

The fans were now expecting a hatful of goals from the rampant AFC but Stowmarket came back into the game as Sudbury eased off as theirs. Brazilian No 9, Geo Da Silva, was possibly harshly adjudged to have been brought down in the area in the thirty fifth minute (the Referee without linesman had to make a decision on what he saw) and from the spot the forward sent keeper, Matt Norton, the wrong way to make it 3-1.

Stowmarket’s No 10 Lockwood could have made it 3-2  a little later but his curling shot was well pushed over by Matt Norton; but they added the second in the fortieth minute with a great curling shot from centre-half Ainsley Hope with Sudbury asleep. Game On!!

Half Time: AFC Sudbury Reserves 3 Stowmarket Town Res 2

Sudbury increased their lead within the first quarter of an hour of an even of the second half  when Danny Dance split the defence and beautifully lobbed the keeper.  The fifth came from Ryan Kent following a long throw and his well met rasping header powered into the net past the helpless Stacey.

A good game to watch with both sides playing good football and there were chances at both ends that well entertained a good size crowd on a sunny mid-October afternoon.
