A controversial last minute penalty given to the visitors and the goal scored from the rebounded save by Jake Jessup gave the a share of the spoils. Ollie Peters had given AFC a twenty-second minute lead that thry held until the final minute.
There was little to chose between the two sides but AFC deserved their lead that came from a goalkeeping clearance that Mekhi McKenzie headed on and Ryan Horne did well to find Peters who fired home against ex-AFC keeper Luis Tibbles.
The lead was comfortable held during the first period, but the Ram Meadow side probably just shaded the second forty-five minutes and were awarded a penalty on the stroke of ninety minutes. There was a whole heap of players on the floor and the referee pointed to the spot allegedly for a shirt pull before the melee, all much to the disgust of the home side. Cemal Ramadan stepped up Jessup blocked the spot kick but the ball came out to the taker who scored at the second attempt.
So a Derby Day draw in front of a crowd over the 500 mark and five points out of nine over the holiday period sees AFC in fifteenth place in the Bostik North table.
