A Win At Last
Gap At Bottom Widens
The Ladies travelled to Colney Heath where it was bottom against second from bottom of the league, with the home side five points behind Sudbury with a game in hand.
Once again there were a number of injuries that kept players out Holly Harrison being one and Charley Roach was unavailable.
The visitors kicked off down the hill and spent most of the half in the Colney half and took the lead after twenty minutes when a fine run down the right wing saw Megan Partridge beat two players and then to fire past the home goalkeeper.
The second half had Colney kicking down the hill and they put Sudbury under pressure and it told after fifty-three minutes when the hosts equalised.
Five minutes later AFC were awarded a penalty when Rebekah Henderson was fouled and Stacey Teager stepped up and scored sending the keeper the wrong way.
The hosts fought back and Sudbury were thankful late onto their goalkeeper Penny Everett who made two very good saves to take all three points.
AFC lost Amanda Potter with a hamstring injury and Lottie Churchman pulled up with a bad ankle injury and had to make a hospital. We wish Lottie well.
At last a win and it opens a gap of eight points on Colney.
Next up for AFC Ladies is a league game at home against Acle Ladies next Sunday with the kick off at 2.00pm.
