Defeat At Grays
Run Of Draws Ends
AFC slipped to a 3-1 defeat away at a cold Parkside against Grays Athletic in front of an attendance given as 157.
New striker Phil Kelly made his debut up front for Sudbury, but could not get on the scoresheet. Grays went in at the interval a goal up when Kieran Bishop scored three minutes before the break.
The home side scored again two minutes after the restart this time from the penalty spot when Sam Mills was adjudged to have committed a trip. Adeyinka Cole stepped to give Jake Jessup no chance. Just passed the hour mark after making a double substitution, with Mehki McKenzie and Milo Grimes coming off and the returning Max Booth and Tom Maycock going on AFC scored. The goal came from a trademark free kick and the left foot of Captain Joe Whight struck from just on the edge of the penalty area and going in after hitting the crossbar.
AFC made one further substitution with Jake Clowsley going off having taken a knock, and Tom Dettmar replaced him with thirteen minutes left.
There was to be no equaliser as the home side scored a third with the scorer, Bishop looking yards offside, a minute before time to take all three points.
Despite the defeat AFC remain in fourteenth place in the Bostik North table.
