AFC Grassroots
AFC Sudbury Grassroots is the Youth and Ladies section of AFC Sudbury, who play in the Ryman Divison 1 North (step 4)
Based at the MEL Group Stadium, King’s Marsh, Sudbury, the Grassroots has steadily grown over the last few years and achieved FA Charter Club status in 2009. Also in 2009 the club was awarded Charter Club of the year for Suffolk, followed by Regional Charter Club of the year. All these accolades are fanatasitc achievements, but more so given the very short period of time they took to achieve.
There will several fundemental changes for the 2012/2013 season. Previously the club has had representation in two youth leagues, one in Essex and one in Suffolk. For this season the club has decided to switch all its youth teams to the Ipswich and Suffolk Youth Football League and will have representation at all age groups. Our current U15 Tigers side after another dominating season have decided to move to the U16 Eastern Junior Alliance, a first for the club.
The Ladies first season in the Eastern Region Womens League was very successful with a creditable 4th finish and they will continue in that league for this season.
The age groups currently represented at the club for the season 2011/12 are Under 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 18 and the Ladies. This will continue for the 2012/2013 season, with several age groups fielding two sides.
