Coach Perry Groves

An interesting weekend for our teams started with a very special guest coach giving a session to our under 9's and under 10's on Saturday morning while our managers are currently undertaking their level 1 coaching badge.

Ex Colchester, Arsenal & Southampton Player Perry Groves took the training, coaching the current `Mini Soccer` U9 & U10s teams players.

Perry gave his time to the local town team encouraged by proposed developments over the forthcoming seasons at Kings Marsh to seriously invest and develop youth football for Sudbury town area.

Two basic elements of development of local youth mini-soccer that `Pez` felt were important were:

1. `Listening` to your coach, so that you learn all the valuable skills needed to play good football.
2. Enjoyment `it is important to enjoy the game`, otherwise, it is more difficult to develop and advance through to a higher standard.

On behalf of AFC Sudbury Grassroots, U10's Manager, Dave Malone wishes to thank Perry for giving his time to the boys, who by all accounts, thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

Onto football action from yesterday and with our Under 10's Blues needing only 2 points from their last two games to secure the runners up position in the Weller League they unfortunately lost 2 - 1 away at Colchester Athletic despite a cracking outfield goal scored by Patrick Cooper.

The Under 10's Reds lost 3-0 at Colchester Athletic in their last league game of the season.

The Under 12's could only manage a 1 - 1 draw away at Clare Town Lions yesterday - Harry Payne scored the goal.

The Under 14's thrashed Marks Tey 5 - 1 at home. Goals scored by Jack Steed 2, Brandon Reynolds 2 and Sam Lait.

Finally the Ladies won 2 - 4 away at Isleham in the John Bennett Cup. Scorers; Stacey Teager 3 and Natalie Golding direct from a corner for the second game running!. The Ladies are now in the semi-finals
