09.03.08 - Clare Town Lions 1 v 1 AFC Sudbury U12's

 

AFC Sudbury Under 12's played away at Clare Town Lions yesterday and could only manage a 1 - 1 draw. Playing without their regular keeper, midfielder Mitch Weavers played in goal.

Clare Town took the lead following a quick throw-in which caught the Sudbury defenders napping, the Clare Town number 4 weaved his way into the area to open the scoring.

Following a tactical change of keeper in the second half - AFC came more into the game and equalised when Harry Payne scored one of his trade mark goals, when he took on the home defenders, turning the last man to smash home.

 


02.03.08 - AFC Sudbury U12's 2 v 1 Clacton United

 

AFC Sudbury Under 12's played at home yesterday v Clacton United and had to start the match with just 10 players due to illness and unavailibity and with centre back, Sergio Selva having to play in goal.

Playing with a 4-4-1 formation and despite being outnumbered, AFC battled well in the first half and deservedly held the scoring to nil-nil at half-time.

AFC suffered a further setback when Brandon New could not continue due to a knee injury, reducing AFC to just 9 players for most of the second half.

Early on in the second half, Clacton took the lead when S Flanders wandered through the gaping holes in Sudbury's defence to slot home.

This seemed to inspire Sudbury, who dug deep and thoroughly deserved their equaliser when Harry Payne scored his 40th of the season when his scintillating run through the Clacton defence finished with him rounding the keeper to gleefully put home.

Even though the AFC management team would have been delighted with a draw, the AFC players were now determined to win the match and sure enough in the last minute, AFC won a corner on the right hand side, which was taken quickly by Scott Goodwin, who did a lovely 1-2 with Brad Carmichael, before crossing the ball to the far post where Joe Hopewell followed in to score the winner!

 

24.02.08 - Alresford Colne Rangers 2 v 3 AFC Under 12's

 

AFC Sudbury Under 12's struggled to beat Alresford who played well.

Alresford opened the scoring with a very well taken free kick from 22 yards out over the AFC wall giving the AFC keeper no chance.

AFC equalised with a scrappy goal from Brandon New who had chased the ball down successfully lobbing the keeper on his second attempt.

Just before half-time AFC took the lead when Joe Hopewell (who was one of the better players on the day) beat the offside trap, drawing the keeper out and coolly slotting home.

AFC then lost top striker and captain Harry Payne with a suspected sprained ankle.

HALF-TIME: Arlesford Colne Rangers 1 - AFC Sudbury Under 12's 2.

Alresford kept the pressure on AFC and equalised in the second half.

In the last 5 minutes of the game however AFC started playing football and Joe Hopewell followed in again to put the ball in the roof of the net off his knee.

FINAL SCORE: Arlesford Colne Rangers 2 - AFC Sudbury Under 12's 3.

 

17.02.08 - AFC Sudbury Under 12's  5 v 1 Layer Colts

AFC continued their fine run of form with a fantastic victory against a team well placed above them in the table. AFC dominated the first half and deservedly took the lead when top scored Harry Payne battled through the defence to draw the keeper out calmly slotting home.


HALF TIME: AFC 1 V Layer Colts 0


AFC continued to pressurise the Layer defence and increased their lead with a cross from Andrew Gooby to Brandon New to score. AFC soon made it 3 nil with Payne taking the ball past the keeper to easily put it in the back of the net. Payne then used his pace to take him clear to score his hat trick. Layer Colts pulled a goal back through James Parker. The scoring was then completed with the best goal of the game coming from captain and man of the match Payne who riffled in a 25 yard blockbuster from the right wing.


FINAL SCORE: AFC 5 V Layer Colts 1

 

10.02.08 - Bures 2 v 2 AFC Sudbury Under 12's

AFC played away at league leaders Bures and fell behind to a goal scored by R Carter. Dan Livens then made it 2 nil with a lovely lob over keeper Brad Williams.

Shortly before half time AFC pulled a goal back with a long ball forward by man of the match Sergio Selva through to Andrew Gooby to score his first ever goal for AFC.


AFC had more possession in the second half and equalised when Brandon New beat the offside trap running through to score.

AFC were looking the stronger side against the league leaders but it was Bures who nearly snatched a win at the death when a corner was floated over, with the ball bouncing off the post to safety.

03.02.08 - AFC Sudbury 13 v 0 Hedingham Hawks

 

AFC Sudbury Under 12's played their home match away at Hedingham Hawks yesterday with Hedingham only managing to field 10 players in the first half and 9 in the second - AFC won 13 nil:

AFC opened the scoring with Brandon New putting a lovely through ball to Harry Payne who ran through and shot across the keeper into the bottom left hand corner.

It was soon 2 nil with a carbon copy of the first goal - Brandon New putting in Harry Payne to score.

Scott Goodwin scored the 3rd by blasting home into the left hand corner.

Man of the match Andrew Gooby put in a lovely cross from the right for Brandon New to tap home.

Brandon New got his second when he swivelled and manager to score from a narrow angle from the by-line.

HALF TIME - AFC Sudbury 5 V Hedingham Hawks 0.

The second half started with Hedingham down to 9 players and AFC took advantage with Scott Goodwin getting his second when he jinked past 2 defenders and hit home through the keepers legs.

Brandon New got his hat trick benefiting from a deflection into his path to tap home.

Brandon New then got his fourth when Scott Goodwin crossed for Brandon New to fire home.

Mitchell Weavers then got AFC's 9th following another good cross from Scott Goodwin.

Harry Payne then got his third and fourth in quick succession.

Scott Goodwin then scored his hat trick before the final and best goal of the game came from Mitch Weavers who blasted the ball home from fully 25 yards out.

02.12.07 - Brightlingsea Regents Reds 0 v 8 AFC Sudbury Under 12's

 

AFC Sudbury Under 12's played away at a windy Brightlingsea Regents Reds and came away with a magnificent 8 nil victory:

 

AFC opened the scoring when top scorer Harry Payne ran down the right hand wing before shooting home into the opposite corner of the net.

The lead was doubled soon after when Scott Goodwin lobbed the ball home from fully 25 yards.

The third goal was slotted home into the bottom left hand corner by Joe Hopewell following some good headed passes.

AFC's fourth was well taken by Brandon New who ran through from the half-way line holding off the attentions of home defenders before shooting into the left hand corner.

Payne got his second by shooting home in off the post, Payne then completed his hat-trick by running down the right hand wing and sliding the ball into the bottom left hand corner.

 

HALF-TIME: Brightlingsea Regents Reds 0 V 6 AFC Sudbury Under 12's

 

Half way through the second half Scott Goodwin got his second of the match by smashing the ball home from the edge of the box.

AFC's final and best goal of the game was scored by centre back Mitchell Weavers who controlled the ball on his chest before volleying it home from fully 30 yards giving the keeper no chance.

AFC had one last chance to score when goalie Brad Williams (trying to keep warm) decided to come up for a corner, throwing himself at the ball, with his diving header hitting the side netting.

25.11.07 - AFC Sudbury Under 12's v Clare Town Lions

 

AFC Sudbury Under 12's played at home V Clare Town Lions and won 3 nil.


AFC played with a familiar 4-4-2 formation and took the lead in the game following a corner which was floated in by Brandon New, flicked on twice with Mitchell Weavers running in to knee the ball home.

AFC doubled their lead when Harry Payne burst through with his initial shot saved by the keeper with the ball rebounding kindly at the feet of fellow striker Brandon New who fired home.

HALF-TIME

AFC were playing some good passing football and got their third goal with the two strikers linking up well and New played the ball through to Payne who fired home with his left foot.

FINAL SCORE: AFC Sudbury Under 12's - 3 V 0 Clare Town Lions.

 

 

11.11.07 - AFC Sudbury Under 12's v Arlesford Colne Rangers

 

AFC Sudbury Under 12's played at home V Arlesford Colne Rangers in a League match played in cold, wet conditions but AFC came away with a 5 nil win:


Sudbury opened the scoring following a long clearance from goalkeeper Brad Williams all the way through to striker and captain Harry Payne who coolly lobbed the keeper before walking the ball into the net.

HALF-TIME


AFC increased their lead when Scott Goodwin took a throw-in on the left with the ball coming back to him, he hit a cross/shot which curled over the head of the keeper into the top right hand corner of the net.

It was soon 3 nil when Payne battled through the defence to lob the keeper. Payne got his hat trick  with the best goal of the game following some good 1-2 passing Payne ran all the way from the half way line to round the keeper and score.

Payne finished off the scoring getting his 4th and AFC's 5th when he burst through the defence and shot home from 15 yards out.


FINAL SCORE: AFC Sudbury Under 12's 5 V Arlesford Colne Rangers 0.

 

28.10.07 - AFC Sudbury Under 12's v Bures

AFC Sudbury Under 12's played at home against Bures who are currently second in the table and play some of the best football in the league.


Bures took the lead early in the match with their number 7 strolling through a static AFC defence to easily score. This seemed to wake Sudbury up a little and they gradually got back into the game but couldn't break down a very well organised Bures defence.


Bures increased their lead early in the second half when Dan Livens was twice given too much room and scored 2 goals.

AFC pulled a goal back when emergency striker Brandon New ran all the way from inside his own half, outpacing the Bures defence before calmly slotting home.

Bures then put the game out of Sudbury's reach with their fourth goal.


Final score: AFC Sudbury Under 12's 1 V Bures 4.

 

21.10.07 - Hedingham Hawks v AFC Sudbury Under 12's

AFC Sudbury Under 12's played away V Hedingham Hawks on Sunday 21st October and came away with an amazing 3 V 11 win.

AFC took the lead with a 25 yard screamer from Harry Payne.

Payne got his second soon after, before Hedingham pulled a goal back. Scott Goodwin ran down the left, cut inside before firing into the opposite corner.

Payne completed his hat trick for AFC's fourth, he then got his fourth and fifth in quick succession before Goodwin  and Brandon New scored.

HALF-TIME Hedingham Hawks 1 V AFC Sudbury 8.


Payne doubled his hat trick and then got his seventh and AFC's tenth goal before Goodwin scored his third.

Hedingham recovered a little and pulled 2 late goals back.

FINAL SCORE Hedingham Hawks 3 V AFC Sudbury 11.

 

14.10.07 - Brightlingsea Regent Reds - AFC Sudbury Under 12's

AFC Sudbury Under 12's played away in the League Cup at Brightlingsea Regent Reds and took the lead in the first half with a scorcher from Harry Payne from 22 yards out.

AFC were kicking up the slope in the second half and soon doubled their lead with a lovely through ball from Scotty Goodwin to Payne who coolly rolled the ball into the bottom left hand corner.

Captain Goodwin then took a corner from the right which was headed powerfully home by Mitchell Weavers.

Sudbury's fourth came from another great pass from Brandon New through to Payne who scored his 3rd.

The scoring was completed by substitute Harry Gates who ran down the right, cut inside and put the ball into the bottom corner.

AFC Sudbury Under 12's played away V Crusaders yesterday and won 0 - 9:


Playing with a familiar 4-4-2 formation Sudbury took the lead after 5 minutes, when Mitchell Weavers playing in a central midfield roll put a through ball into Harry Payne who shrugged off a defender, rounded the keeper and rolled the ball into the unguarded net.
Sudbury soon increased their lead with Harry Payne squaring the ball to striking partner Joe Hopewell who hit home with his weaker left foot.


It was soon 3 nil following a good clearance by Matty Wing with the ball going all the way through to Harry Payne whose pace took him round the keeper and slotted home.
Harry Payne scored got his hat trick by coolly lobbing the keeper from just inside the area.
Payne's 4th and Sudbury's 5th soon followed when he fired home from the edge of the area.


Just before half-time it was 6, when Payne ran all the way down the left wing before cutting inside and rolling the ball home.


HALF - TIME: Crusaders 0 V AFC Sudbury 6.


Sudbury passed the ball around a lot more in the second half and increased their lead when Payne crossed the ball into Joe Hopewell who stabbed home.
Brandon New got the 8th by battling well down the left touchline and then coolly slotting home.


The scoring was rounded off when Sergio Selva's long ball down field went through to Joe Hopewell who held off 2 defenders before slotting home.
Keeper Bradley Williams managed to keep a clean sheet, with a great one handed flying save near the end.


Final score: Crusaders: 0 V AFC Sudbury Under 12's: 9

 

30.09.07

AFC Sudbury Under 12's played away against Colchester Athletic Reds who play in Birch, near Colchester and started the game poorly with some dithering around their own box, failing to clear their lines and losing out in midfield. Colchester Athletic raced into a 3 goal lead at half-time with their giant number 27 being the main creator.

AFC got better as the second half went on, however succumbed to a 4th goal against when Colchester Athletic's massive number 27 scored their 4th goal. Despite this setback AFC were bossing the possession and pulled one back when Jordan Cook's persistence paid off and he squared the ball across the face of the goal to Brandon New to hit home.

Sudbury's tails were up by now and they scored their second and the best goal of the game when top scorer Harry Payne ran from inside his own half down the right wing before firing an unstoppable shot over the keeper from well outside the area. AFC were now in complete control of the game with wave after wave of attack on the home goal but ran out of time in the end.

22/09/07

AFC Sudbury Under 12's played at home against Team Player Youth from Clacton who proved to be much tougher opposition then their previous game.


For the first 15 minutes Sudbury were playing some lovely passing football, however Team Player Youth took the lead when their winger ran down the right hand side and put an inch perfect cross into the box for D Scanu to shoot home.


AFC soon equalised when Brandon News persistence was paid off after he won 3 tackles, before turning and smashing the ball over the keeper from 20 yards out.


Right on the stroke of half-time Team Player Youth took the lead again from a free-kick given away on the edge of the box, the shot coming in with keeper Brad Williams doing well to palm the ball in the air, unfortunately the ball dropped at the feet of Robbie Irving who couldn't miss.


Half-time AFC Sudbury Under 12's 1 V Team Player Youth 2.


Sudbury never looked like winning this game in the second half and Team Player Youth killed the game off with their third goal following a corner, the ball came to M James who swivelled and curled home inside the post.


Final score: AFC Sudbury Under 12's 1 V Team Player Youth 3.

AFC Sudbury U12's v Cornard Dynamos Reds - Match Report

 

AFC Sudbury Under 12's kicked off the season at home to Cornard Dynamos Reds and playing with a 4-5-1 formation soon took the lead when Harry Payne slotted home following a rebound off the keeper.

Dynamos equalised when M Fisher shot with the ball bouncing high over Sudbury Keeper Bradley Williams. The lead was soon restored by Sudbury with Harry Payne running through on goal drawing the keeper before squaring the ball to Brandon New to shoot home.

The lead was increased when Harry Payne ran through the defence and slotted home into the bottom left corner. Harry Payne got his hat-trick when Jordan Cook floated a lovely ball over for Harry Payne to smash home.

Captain Scott Goodwin hit the fifth with a cross/shot which evaded the keeper from 25 yards out. The sixth was scored by Brandon New who ran through unchallenged and calmly hit home. The seventh goal came when Brandon New brilliantly turned, ran down the right wing before blasting an unstoppable shot home in the top left hand corner.

Half time AFC Sudbury 7 V Cornard Dynamos Reds 1.


Dynamos had a much better second half, however succumbed to an eighth goal against when Harry Payne ran down the left wing and cut inside and slotted home under the keeper.

Harry Payne completed the scoring with his fifth and Sudbury's ninth when the keeper could only parry a shot  from Scott Goodwin, with the ball falling to Harry Payne who curled a left footed shot home from inside the box.


Final score AFC Sudbury Under 12's 9 V Cornard Dynamos Reds 1.
