AFC Sudbury Under 10's - Match Report

16/09/2007 – Stanway Rovers v AFC Sudbury Reds. ( 1-0 )

AFC were desperately unlucky to lose this game. The boys were very determined from the off and good control of the ball from all players saw a number of break down at the last moment from good defensive work from the home side.

Stanway then started to exert some pressure but a number of attacks were thwarted by good tackling and defensive play from Fred Standley.

Parents nominated man of the match & New signing William Spurgeon-Mills literally chased the ball around the park and made some fine tackles and started to dominate the mid-field.

AFC then had a period where they controlled the game with good interplay and movement between Captain Tommy Malone and William and forward Lewis Kindell who had a number of chances but was unable to convert. During this spell, AFC had their best chance of the game with a fine right-footed shot from Fred Standley just clearing the bar. Very unlucky!

AFC let their concentration drop just before half time and on the stroke of the whistle the home side went 1 nil up with a break away goal.

The second half saw Stanway trying to push home their advantage, but again fine defence from Fred Standley and Ashley Dodd kept them at bay.

Stanway then started to control the game and AFC were under pressure and despite a number of driving runs from William Spurgeon-Mills, they were unable to convert their possession in to the deserved equaliser, the match ending 1 nil to the home side, despite a fine performance from the boys.
