AFC Sudbury Under 10's - Match Report

07.10.07 - Lexden Saints (Blues) v AFC Sudbury (Blues) U10’s

AFC were in control of the game from the start, with the midfield trio of parents nominated man of the match Liam O’Mara, Seb Lingard and Capt. Chris Lewis dominating the opposition as they did in last weeks game.

Good driving runs from all 3 lead to a number of missed chances, with shots going wide or just over the bar! AFC won a corner which was forced home by Evan Gartland off a Lexden Saints defender for an own goal, AFC 1-0 up.

Lexden came back strongly but through some good defending by Warwick Smith were able to repel the home team and remain in front at half time.

After half time AFC continued where they left off creating a number of good chances, which all went unconverted. Eventually through some good team football the ball was passed through to Patrick Cooper who took his chance with a well taken right foot shot just within the keeper’s area. AFC 2-0 up.

Lexden themselves started to put pressure on the AFC goal as the boys lost their control and composure. From a resulting free kick the home side got one back with a well taken drive in to the AFC net.

This seemed to wake up the AFC boys with both Seb Lingard and Chris Lewis making some strong runs down the flanks and Liam O’Mara controlling the midfield with some good passing, all 3 creating enough chances for the boys to have won this tie comfortably.

The game ended 1-2 in favour of AFC Sudbury but could be summed up as “so many chances, not enough taken!”
