Danny Laws
Director of Football & Youth Development

He has over 20 years of experience in youth development and a track record of nurturing young footballers through to first team level and beyond that is second to none in the region. The pioneer of the West Suffolk College and Needham Market FC football Academies, he is now at the forefront of our scheme. A holder of the UEFA Advanced Coaching Licence for 12 Years, there was really no one better than Danny to launch the AFC Sudbury Football Academy.

David Cannon
Head of Academy (Recruitment and Education)

He is a qualified teacher for 15 years Dave has been the head coach of our Under 21 team since the beginning of the season. He has a proven track record of spotting and recruiting talent as well as the organisation skills needed for running a development team. He holds the FA Level Two Coaching award as well as the youth module 1.

Craig Power

Previous clubs: AFC Sudbury Grassroots, Long Melford
He has a UEFA B coaching Licence and already holds the FA youth award. He has a wealth of experience for a younger coach having run youth and schoolboy teams for a number of years. He has an excellent manner with the young players and is a very popular member of staff.

Gavin Peters Coach

He is a F.A. level 2 qualified coach and works as a full time P.E Instructor.
He’s been involved for the last 10 years at Hadleigh United F.C. During this time, he has also been successful at Eastern Junior Alliance level with both Hadleigh United and Woodbridge Town F.C. During 2014/15, Gavin won the Suffolk F.A outstanding contribution to community youth football award.


Luca Collins

A confident young goalkeeper in his second year at AFC with a bright future ahead. Good hands and feet, a consitent performer.

Mitchell Potter

A solid goalkeeper who likes to play out from the back. Commands his box well.
Previously with Stanway Rovers and Long Melford.

Sam Bishop

A second year Academy player who can play in either of the right or left back positions.
Previously with Heybridge Swifts.

Jake Colclough

A second year Academy player, a right back who moved to AFC from Ipswich Town last year. He is a defender with lots of energy and had a number of call ups for the Suffolk FA last season.
Ricky Cornish

A very experienced defender who will lend his skills to help the younger members of the side.

Adam Dunnage

Second year in the Academy, a defender who shows natural leadership on the pitch and a reliable performer. Represented Suffolk FA.
Previous clubs, Ipswich Town Academy and Woodbridge Town

Milo Grimes

In his second year at AFC. A strong centre back and a natural leader, dangerous at set pieces. Has represented Suffolk at 18 level.

Sam Mills

Now in his third year at AFC, a reliable Defender able to play anywhere across the back four. Composed on the ball and good leader. Has played for Suffolk U18's.
Played also for Stanway Rovers.

Kane Munday

Strong left sided defender or wide player, comfortable on the ball, in his second season at the Academy.
Previously with Colchester United Academy.

Tom Prentice

Joe Walker

A Second Year Academy student, and a solid left back but can also play In central defence. Represented Suffolk FA U18's last season.
Was previously with Ipswich Town Academy.

Mickey Carrigan

In the AFC Academy for his second year. A central midfielder who has a work horse mentality.
Previously played for Hadleigh United.

Tom Dettmar

Now in his second year at The Academy. A technically good defensive midfield player, who sets high standards, and also has a good engine. Has represented Suffolk at U16s and U17s levels.
Previously with Ipswich Town Academy.

Kie Dyer

A second year Academy midfield player who likes to find space on the pitch, is good on the ball and has a sweet left foot.

Ben Hunter

Second year in the Academy, an energetic centre midfielder who loves a tackle and has an eye for goal. Capped by Suffolk FA at U16s & U18s level.
Previously a Woodbridge Town player.

Aaron Pengelly

A second year Academy youngster, who is quick right winger.
Previously with Cornard United and Stanway Rovers.

Ollie Peters

Now in his third year at AFC, a versatile player who is comfortable playing anywhere across the midfield or as a striker. Always covers a lot of ground, good touch and drives forward well.
Played for previously with Hadleigh United.

Tom Prentice

Alocal young player in his second year at AFC Sudbury Academy. Honest, hard working central defender who wears his heart on his sleeve.
Previously with Cornard United and Chelmsford City.

Callum Fuller

In his second year at AFC, a striker with pace and goals in his locker.
Previously played for Cornard United and Chelmsford City.

Kade Ivatt

A local youngster who has played through the age groups at AFC Sudbury's grassroots section. Popular strong, hardworking striker in his second season with AFC Sudbury Academy.
Previously played for AFC Sudbury grassroots and Hadleigh United

Callum Vincent

In his second year at AFC Sudbury Academy, sharp and powerful in and around the penalty area, with good balance and awareness.
Previously with Stanway Rovers.

Callum Watson

In his second year at the AFC Sudbury Academy. Attacking midfielder with energy and technical ability. Has also played at county level.
Previously played for Colchester United Academy.
