February 5, 2012 Ryman January Awards
Wealdstone have been further rewarded for their 2-1 FA Trophy victory over Barrow as they prepare for their trip to Dartford in the next round, when the Ryman Premier club will be bidding for a quarter-final place. They have been named the winners of the Macron Team Performance of the Month award for January in their division.
The award is usually given to the club with the most outstanding single result during the month and in Ryman North the verdict does to Ilford, who were at the foot of the table with only one away point to their credit when they pulled off a 2-1 midweek win at local rivals and FA Cup heroes Redbridge.
Sittingbourne have claimed the Ryman South award thanks to a 2-0 home victory over high-flying Whitehawk. It came in the middle of a wretched run of form and is, in fact, their only win in their last ten games.
The Macron Manager of the Month awards are given to the clubs with the best league record during the month and the Premier winners are the Concord managerial duo, Danny Cowley and Danny Scopes. The Beachboys won four and lost two for an average of two points a game. Five clubs achieved the same average but from only five matches.
Four wins and a draw from their five outings gave Enfield Town a clear lead in the race for Ryman North honours and so their manager Steve Newing will receive the trophy.
Mark Tompkins, of Chipstead, takes the Ryman South prize after his men won three of the four games and drew the other.
