AFC Sudbury Manager Greets New Signing Danny Charge

AFC Sudbury manager has once again used his various connections to sign a player. This time it is 22 year-old  striker Danny Charge.

The Essex based man has been out of the game for some while after suffering a serious ankle injury and has been playing his football mainly for fun. Charge however has played for Dagenham and Redbridge,  Grays Athletic while they were a Conference side,Hemel Hemspstead Town, Billericay Town and has had trials with both Leyton Orient and Stevenage. His last club was Grays Athletic last season before his ankle problems.

Tracey said “He has been out for sometime but has a good pedigree and can score goals with both feet. He may take a little while to get up to speed in terms of fitness but he is someone I know will be able to put the ball away when he is called upon”.

Charge took part in AFC’s indoor training session at Sudbury Sports Centre and was quickly on the scoresheet and looked to be a good signing for the club

Below is a summary of his playing career so far;

He started off with Waltham Forest as a youth player and made his debut for them in January 2006 which was his one and only appearance before joining up with Dagenham & Redbridge reserve team and then earning a two-year contract with them. In November 2008, he joined Hitchin Town on loan playing four games for them before returning to Dagenham. He made his first-team debut in April 2009 but had his contract cancelled by mutual consent in August the same year. After his release he signed for then Conference side Grays Athletic leaving the club in December 2009, having scored three times in thirteen appearances. Hemel Hempstead Town was his next club until the end of the 2009/10 season playing a total of 14 times for the club, scoring twice, before leaving the club in May 2010. In July 2010, he went on trial with League One side Leyton Orient, but was unsuccessful in earning a contract. Ahead of the 2010/11 season he signed for Billericay Town scoring on his debut. In September 2010, he went on a two-week trial with Stevenage, but was unsuccessful returning to Billericay in October 20. He went on to have a spell at Boreham Wood before returning to Grays Athletic in January 2011 where he played for a while before suffering a bad ankle injury that force him to stop playing. At the start of the 2011/12 season he began to play again after the injury healed sufficiently, but only at a low level, before signing for AFC on 11th February 2012.
