January 13, 2012 Laws Wants To Halt Slide
Needham Market manager Danny Laws wants to halt their current slide and believes their game against Maldon and Tiptree is the time to start.
The Marketmen welcome the Blues, currently seventeenth in the league, to Bloomfields on the back of a disastrous run of five straight defeats, including last Saturday’s 3-2 defeat to Redbridge and Tuesday’s 3-1 elimination from the Suffolk Premier Cup at the hands of Ryman Premier neighbours Bury Town.
However, despite the alarming run of form, Laws has pinpointed tomorrow’s encounter as the one to stop the rot.
“There will be no better time to pick up a win than this weekend,” he said.
“Maldon are not challenging at the top of the league and they are not scrapping for their lives at the bottom.
“No disrespect to them but we need to win and stop that losing habit and I believe we have a good chance to do that.”
As well as trying to rediscover a winning formula, the manager has once again looked to the transfer market as he aims to shake up his misfiring squad and fill the void left by the departure of striker Jose Espinosa last week.
Laws revealed he hoped to have two new attacking options in place by Saturday and explained his reasons for placing defender Lewis Pemberton on the transfer list.
“I’m hoping to have two new centre forwards in place before the weekend,” he added.
“Lewis’ season hasn’t really got started. He wants to play football, I respect that and I think it will be best for him to find another club.”
