January 21, 2012 Cheshunt The Place To Start Again
Eighteenth placed Cheshunt is the venue for AFC Sudbury to get back on the trail of Ryman League North points in the quest for the end of season play-offs.
Sudbury manager Chris Tracey has previously stated that the next six games could well be the defining point of the club’s season. The six games are vital as eighth place is where AFC find themselves after a couple of league defeats against Potters Bar Town and Leiston in the past fortnight. Now out of all cup competitions after the League Cup Quarter-Final defeat at Lewes, albeit on penalties after a 1-1 draw, now sees only the League to concentrate on.
There was just the bare eleven fit first team squad member for the Lewes game, but Tracey is hopeful that both Michael Shinn and James Smith will be back in contention for places at Cheshunt. After being out for nearly three months defender Tom Devaux is added to the squad.
Missing will be Rhys Darg out with another pull of his hamstring, as is Dave Wareham with a similar injury. Recent new signing Luke Ingram will be missing for at least two weeks with a knee injury picked up in the Leiston defeat, while Sam Clarke sits the game out serving the last of his three match suspension.
